Seapei Kgwefane

Seapei is from Rustenburg in North West. She is a 17 year old Grade 12 student at Bafokeng High School. She is part of the SRC Committee at school and also the Secretary for the Literature Group, where they help other students to express themselves through poetry and drawing. She plays basketball and also dances Hip-Hop. She is also involved in community projects such as the Secretary for Phokeng Central Youth League (PCYL) where they deal with issues such as HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and other youth related issues. Academically, she passes with flying colours (distinctions only) and would like to study Actuarial Science at UCT.

Nicolene “Nicky” Grobler

Nicky is a student who is used to hard work and is very focussed on her set goals. She is currently finishing 2 degrees at the same time and is employed as a Student and Research Assistant which has given her a wonderful platform to learn important academic skills such as research, writing, presenting and basic admin skills. She loves being part of something greater than a culture, a school, a career or even a degree, to be part of a movement of hope, hope for South Africa and especially the youth. This makes her excited enough to start dancing on the spot! She is a very optimistic person and believes that the Bokamoso Ba Rona (Our Future) Campaign just brightened her life and attitude even more!

Portia lives in Klerksdorp and is still in school doing Grade 9 at Alabama High School. She would like to become a Court Judge one day; therefore she plans to study law. Her hobbies are singing, eating and sleeping. She is a very open person to every one. She feels that she can be easily trusted, because she can help you. She still has both parents with 2 sisters and 1 brother. She loves making new friends because she is also friendly. She has a passion for music, drama and acting and  is also very good in sports (netball, high jump and long jump).

His friends say that he has a dry sense of humour and he usually loves entertaining people. He is a down-to-earth guy with great dreams and ambition. He loves his culture and his country and is proud to be a part of the Rainbow Nation.

Johni loves motivating people (speaks her mind) and does not believe in standing back for something she believes in. She will fight to the end and believes all things to be fair. She hates racism, and the race issue in this country. She is a young woman who believes in herself and in the power of the women. No man will dominate her ever again. She overcame many obstacles, and will never lie down, stop loving nor believing. Her mother is her role model and living proof of how a strong woman is! She is South African, she is African, and she is a patriot. It’s you, her and Mzantsi. She loves Mzantsi, Rainbow country! VIVA!

Patrick is a person who’s really quite interested in youth projects. He is also a people’s person. He also engages in youth activities within his community. He likes doing music and keeping youth out of distracting situations. He is currently involved in youth development with an organisation called Siyakula Youth Enhancement Project and is also a performing artist acting like a vehicle that passes positive messages to the youth. Patrick is a guy with ambitions and massive dreams!

Hanri is a young, dynamic girl (or woman!) looking for fun ways to make a difference! As a journalist she loves writing and taking pictures. She also loves sport, fashion and good times with friends, and she is also a Boka Buddy! She has a degree in Communication, grew up in a small town from a freakishly normal family and hopes to study further next year. She is very grateful for the opportunity to be a Boka Buddy and thanks God for blessing her in so many ways.

Tlotlo is an 18 years old female who was born in Taung North West. She is the first born in the family. She is an active person, who likes taking walks, reading magazines, and making small talk. Tlotlo believes in herself doesn’t like pretending or imitating someone else, as it is neither good nor comfortable. She enjoys meeting new people, being with family and friends, computing, swimming, drawing, and reading, as it gives her the feeling of being intellectual. Tlotlo’s advice to young learners is: pay attention to classes, study as school is important, no matter what other people say and never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.
